Ira is the Rabbinic Fellow at Base WSTWD

Ira is currently a 4th year rabbinical student at HUC-JIR in Los Angeles, Originally from Philadelphia, Ira spent many summers attending URJ Camp Harlam where he connected to the strong sense of Jewish community and was an active participant in Jewish youth programs throughout the year. These experiences have greatly shaped Ira's passion for creating inclusive and engaging Jewish community.

Prior to rabbinical school, Ira attended Temple University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in History as well as a Masters in Education focusing on Elementary and Special Education. A Jewish educator at heart, Ira moved to the Bay Area where he worked as the Youth Director at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette, CA for three years (and met Ariel!).

While in Rabbinical School, Ira has worked as the Recruitment and Admissions intern for HUC-JIR in Jerusalem, served as a student rabbi for Congregation B'nei David in Visalia, CA, as well as worked as the Rabbinic Intern for USC Hillel and UCLA Hillel. A true group convener, Ira is currently serving as president of the student life board at HUR-JIR LA campus.

In Ira's spare time, he loves rooting for his favorite Philadelphia sports teams, exploring the great outdoors of Los Angeles, and hanging with his energetic dog, Yofi, his wonderful son, Lev, and his awesome wife, Ariel.
